Contained Demolition With a Clear Handover

Small structures removed around the real access, surroundings and next use of the site

Small demolition covers the freestanding and secondary structures around a property: garages, sheds, carports, decks, pergolas, driveways, paths and retaining structures. These jobs are too small for demolition companies geared to whole buildings and too involved for a rubbish removalist, which is exactly where Master Strip Outs fits. We demolish the structure, clear every scrap of debris and leave the space ready for whatever comes next: a new build, landscaping or simply reclaimed yard.

The approach is deliberate rather than dramatic. Structures are dismantled in a controlled sequence, roofing off first, then walls, then slabs and footings where the scope includes them, with power and water to the structure isolated before work starts. Fences, gardens, trees and neighbouring property are protected, and machinery is matched to access: tight Sydney side passages often mean hand demolition and barrowing rather than an excavator, and we price for the reality of the site rather than discovering it on the day.

Service Inclusions

What Our Small Demolition Includes

Structure down, debris gone, site clean

01What Our Small Demolition Includes

  • Garage & Shed Demolition

Brick, timber, fibro and steel outbuildings dismantled in sequence, with slabs and footings removed where the scope requires.

  • Carport & Pergola Removal

Freestanding and attached structures taken down carefully, with fixings to the house made good and the roofline left tidy.

  • Deck & Verandah Demolition

Timber and composite decks removed including stumps, footings and balustrades, leaving the ground ready for landscaping.

02Why small demolition planning matters

  • Machine and hand access reviewed

Side access, gates, landscaping, neighbouring property and carrying distances determine the practical removal method and site protection.

  • Shell and structural boundaries

The quote distinguishes finishes, surrounds, equipment and shell work, with engineering or approval questions identified before demolition begins.

  • Debris volume planned early

Concrete, tile, soil and mixed waste quantities are considered alongside truck, bin and loading access before pricing.

How It Works

Our Small Demolition Process

From quote to a clear site
  1. 01

    Site Inspection & Quote

We inspect the structure and access, check for suspect materials like asbestos cement sheeting, and give you a clear quote for the full scope.

  2. 02

    Approvals & Preparation

Any approvals or certifier checks are confirmed, services to the structure are isolated, and protection goes up around gardens, fences and neighbours.

  3. 03

    Controlled Demolition

The structure comes down in sequence, roof, walls, then slab and footings where included, using machinery or hand demolition to suit the access.

  4. 04

    Clearance & Handover

The completed work area is reviewed against the agreed removal and handover scope.

Quote planning

What shapes a small demolition quote

Pricing is prepared after the removal boundary, site access, waste and required handover condition have been reviewed.
01

Removal scope

The rooms, fixtures, finishes and structural boundaries included in the work are confirmed before pricing.

02

Access and material movement

Parking, stairs, lifts, loading areas, carry distance and available bin or truck access affect the removal method.

03

Waste type and volume

Material mix, weight, separation requirements and the estimated number of loads are included in the scope review.

04

Machine access and reinstatement boundary

Equipment access, shell condition, disposal volume and the agreed condition of the surrounding site are reviewed together.

FAQs

Small Demolition FAQs

Common questions about small demolition in Sydney
View all FAQs
Do I need council approval to demolish a garage, shed or carport?

It depends on the structure and your property. In NSW, demolishing some small structures can fall under exempt or complying development, while others, particularly on heritage-listed properties or in conservation areas, need a CDC or DA. The rules vary between councils and change with the specifics, so we recommend confirming your project with a private certifier or your council before work starts. Flag it at quote stage and we will tell you what we know about your situation.

How long does it take to demolish a garage or shed?

Small demolition timing depends on structure size, construction, access, whether slabs or footings are included, and how debris can be removed. We confirm the programme with your quote so you can plan the follow-on work.

What if there is asbestos in my old shed or garage?

Asbestos-cement sheeting may be present in the walls, roofs and eaves of Sydney outbuildings built or renovated before 1990. If material is suspected, work on it stops before disturbance and the property owner or principal contractor obtains specialist asbestos advice. See our asbestos safety guidance for how that process works.
