Bathroom & Laundry Strip Outs

Wet Areas Cleared for Renovation

Over 20 years’ experience stripping Sydney bathrooms and laundries

A bathroom strip out removes everything the renovation replaces: floor and wall tiles, the vanity, bath, toilet, shower screen and tapware, mirrors and accessories, and critically the old waterproofing membrane and screed, so your waterproofer starts on sound, bare substrate. Timing is confirmed after scope, access and services are reviewed.

A laundry strip out can include the tub, cabinetry, benchtops, shelving, appliances, wall and floor finishes. Laundry work is listed separately from bathroom work so shared plumbing, retained services and the finish needed for new joinery are clear before removal begins.

Bathroom & Laundry Strip Out Scope

Each wet area prepared for its next fit out

01Bathroom & Laundry Strip Out Scope

  • Floor & Wall Tile Removal

All tiles stripped with dust-controlled equipment, adhesive and bedding removed so surfaces are ready for the new waterproofing system.

  • Fixture & Fitting Extraction

Baths, vanities, toilets, shower screens, mirrors, towel rails and accessories removed whole where possible and carried out cleanly.

  • Waterproofing & Screed Removal

The old membrane and screed broken out down to the slab or sheeting — the step budget strip outs skip and waterproofers insist on.

02What bathroom & laundry strip out work needs

  • Protection around the renovation

Retained floors, rooms and access paths are identified before removal starts, particularly when other parts of the property remain occupied or finished.

  • Access matched to the property

Stairs, lifts, parking, carrying distances and bin positions are reviewed before pricing so material can move out without compromising shared areas.

  • Services checked before removal

Any plumbing, electrical or specialist work affected by the strip out is identified and coordinated with an appropriately licensed trade when required.

How It Works

How a Bathroom or Laundry Strip Out Works

A safe, systematic sequence
  1. 01

    Inspection & Quote

We inspect the bathroom when needed, check the wall sheeting and access, and provide a clear written quote.

  2. 02

    Isolate & Protect

A licensed plumber isolates and caps the water and seals drainage, then dust barriers and floor protection go up before the first tile comes off.

  3. 03

    Strip to Substrate

Fixtures out first, then wall and floor tiles, then the old membrane and screed — stripped back to sound substrate ready for waterproofing.

  4. 04

    Clean & Hand Over

Waste is removed as part of the handover, the room is swept broom-clean and the capped services are walked through with you or your renovator.

Your quote

What shapes a bathroom & laundry strip out quote

The price depends on what comes out, how the crew reaches it, the waste involved and how the area needs to be left.
01

Removal scope

The rooms, fixtures, finishes and structural boundaries included in the work are confirmed before pricing.

02

Access and material movement

Parking, stairs, lifts, loading areas, carry distance and available bin or truck access affect the removal method.

03

Waste type and volume

Material mix, weight, recycling options and the likely number of loads all affect the quote.

04

Occupied areas and protection

The protection route, separation from lived-in areas and finishes that must remain all affect labour and setup.

FAQs

Bathroom & Laundry Strip Out FAQs

Common questions about wet-area removal
View all FAQs
How long does a bathroom strip out take?

Bathroom strip out timing depends on tile coverage, screed and membrane removal, plumbing capping, apartment access and how many rooms are included. We confirm the programme in your quote so the waterproofer can be booked after us.

Do you disconnect the plumbing?

Yes. A licensed plumber isolates the water, caps the supply lines and seals the drainage points before demolition starts, so the strip out meets plumbing standards and your renovator inherits safe, clearly labelled services. This is included in the quoted price.

Do you remove the old waterproofing membrane?

Yes — membrane and screed removal is part of every full bathroom strip out. New waterproofing cannot be applied reliably over an old membrane, so we break it out down to the slab or sheeting and leave the substrate clean. It is the step that separates a proper strip out from a quick tile knock-off.

What if my bathroom walls contain asbestos?

Bathrooms in Sydney homes built or renovated before 1990 may contain asbestos-cement sheeting behind tiles. If material is suspected, work in that area stops and the property owner or principal contractor must obtain advice from an appropriately qualified asbestos professional before the affected strip out continues.

Can the bathroom and laundry be included in one quote?

Yes. The rooms can be reviewed together while keeping the removal list, retained services and required handover clear for each space. Send photos of both rooms and identify whether they share access, walls or plumbing.

How do you keep dust out of the rest of the house?

We seal the bathroom doorway with dust barriers, run floor protection along the carry-out route and use dust-controlled tile removal equipment. Debris is carried out in tubs rather than dragged, and the access path is cleaned as part of the broom-clean handover.
