Choose the Right Pool Removal Scope
A pool strip out removes the interior finishes and fittings from a swimming pool — waterline and interior tiles, coping, pebblecrete or painted surfaces, handrails, lights and pool equipment — so the shell is ready to be resurfaced, retiled or decommissioned. It is the essential first step of almost every pool renovation.
Master Strip Outs has completed pool strip outs across Sydney, including full-size residential swimming pools, lap pools and shared pools in strata apartment blocks. That experience covers the situations that make pool work tricky: tight backyard access, protecting surrounding landscaping and paving, and coordinating work hours and common-area protection with strata managers.

How Pool Strip Out or Removal Works
- 01
Site Inspection & Quote
We inspect the pool, construction, finishes, equipment, access and intended next use, then confirm whether the scope is a strip out or complete removal.
- 02
Project Planning
We plan access routes, property and landscaping protection, and coordinate strata approvals and work hours where the pool is in a shared complex.
- 03
Safe Strip Out
For renovation, finishes and equipment are removed with the shell protected. Complete removal is finished to the shell, backfill and ground condition stated in the quote.
- 04
Site Handover
The shell and surrounds are left swept clean with all waste sorted, recycled where possible and removed — ready for your pool renovator.

FAQs
Pool Removal & Strip Out FAQs
How long does a pool strip out take?
It depends on the pool size, the finish type and site access — a small backyard pool with good access is much quicker than a large strata pool worked around building hours. We confirm a firm timeframe with your quote so your pool renovator can book in straight after us.
What's the difference between a pool strip out and pool removal?
A pool strip out removes the agreed finishes, fittings and equipment while retaining the shell for renovation. Complete removal deals with the shell and the former pool void, including the specified fill, compaction and final ground condition. The quote should state clearly which outcome is included.
Do I need council approval for a pool strip out?
Stripping the finishes and equipment from a pool for renovation generally does not need council approval on its own. Demolishing or permanently decommissioning a pool usually does, and pool fencing must stay compliant throughout. We recommend confirming your specific project with your certifier or council, and we can point you in the right direction.
What happens to the tiles and rubble?
Agreed tile, concrete and coping rubble is sorted on site for recycling where facilities accept it and removed to appropriate waste facilities. Included pool equipment is cleared with the rest of the quoted work, and the agreed work area is left broom-clean.
